The Youth Environment Assembly (YEA-3), the 7th session of the Open-ended Committee of Permanent Representatives (OECPR-7), and the 7th session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, in November and December 2025. These global events will bring together governments, civil society, and youth leaders to shape the future of international environmental governance.

Funded Participation
Kenya-Based Youth
The Children and Youth Major Group to UNEP (CYMG) will provisionally select up to 50 Kenyan delegates for financial support.

50 delegates will receive stipends to cover local transportation and subsistence for YEA (29–30 November and 7 December 2025)

10 delegates will also receive extended stipends covering YEA, OECPR-7, and UNEA-7 (29 November – 12 December 2025)

Additional accommodation support may be available for youth traveling from outside Nairobi

International Youth
Up to 15 international youth delegates will receive full funding to cover travel, accommodation, and subsistence for YEA, OECPR-7, and UNEA-7.

Venue and Logistics
The Youth Environment Assembly (YEA-3) and related sessions will be hosted at the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON), Kenya.

The Children and Youth Major Group will soon launch an open call for expert youth speakers to participate in YEA-3 sessions. Organizations interested in partnership are encouraged to engage with the CYMG team.

Background on UNEA, OECPR and YEA
UNEA-7 (8–12 December 2025): The United Nations Environment Assembly is the highest-level decision-making body on environmental issues with all 193 UN Member States represented.
OECPR-7 (1–5 December 2025): The Open-ended Committee of Permanent Representatives prepares draft resolutions and decisions in advance of UNEA.
YEA-3 (29–30 November and 7 December 2025): The Youth Environment Assembly is the largest youth-led global gathering on environmental governance, organized by the Children and Youth Major Group to UNEP.
Eligibility and Selection

Applicants must be under 35 years old and members of the Children and Youth Major Group (CYMG)

Selection is based on motivation, prior experience, engagement in CYMG activities, availability for the full duration of events, and commitment to active participation

Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received funding
