Africa stands at the threshold of an energy revolution, one that has the potential to transform its economies, create millions of jobs, and position the continent as a global leader in sustainable energy. The Africa Hydrogen Fellowship (AHF) is designed to bridge the knowledge gap, equip African youth with specialized hydrogen expertise, and cultivate the next generation of African hydrogen leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

Develop Technical Expertise

Gain deep expertise in hydrogen technologies and market trends. Learn about hydrogen production methods, storage solutions, transportation infrastructure, and end-use applications. This knowledge will equip participants to drive Africa’s clean energy future and contribute to the global hydrogen economy.

Equip with Policy Knowledge

Develop policy insights to shape national and regional hydrogen strategies. Understand the regulatory landscape, investment models, and safety protocols necessary for hydrogen adoption. This will enable participants to influence energy policies and promote the integration of hydrogen as a key energy resource in Africa.

Foster Innovation

Acquire practical skills in designing and implementing hydrogen projects. Through hands-on projects, mentorship, and networking, participants will be empowered to lead hydrogen initiatives and foster sustainable development and economic growth in Africa. This includes developing innovative solutions tailored for Africa’s unique energy landscape.

Build a Collaborative Network

Connect with a strong network of hydrogen professionals, researchers, and industry stakeholders. This collaborative network will provide valuable insights, support, and opportunities to collaborate on projects, share knowledge, and drive the hydrogen economy forward in Africa.

Fellowship Objectives and Structure

The AHF is designed to:

• Develop technical expertise in hydrogen production, storage, and applications
• Equip participants with policy knowledge to support hydrogen development across Africa
• Foster innovation and entrepreneurship in hydrogen-based solutions
• Build a collaborative network of hydrogen professionals, researchers, and industry stakeholders
• Promote real-world application of hydrogen technologies through research and project development

The six-month AHF Fellowship combines online modules, in-person workshops, industry visits, case studies, and mentorship. The curriculum is structured into five key modules, followed by a capstone project where fellows apply their learning to develop hydrogen solutions tailored for Africa’s energy landscape.

By the end of the fellowship, participants will have:

Gained Deep Expertise in Hydrogen Technologies

Fellows will acquire comprehensive knowledge of hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and end-use applications. This expertise will enable them to contribute effectively to Africa’s clean energy transition and the global hydrogen economy.

Built a Strong Professional Network

Fellows will connect with a diverse network of hydrogen professionals, researchers, and industry stakeholders. This network will provide valuable support, collaboration opportunities, and a platform to share knowledge and drive the hydrogen economy forward in Africa.

Created Investment-Ready Project Proposals

Participants will develop hydrogen project proposals ready for investment and implementation, demonstrating their ability to apply learning to real-world challenges.
