Danish State Tuition Fee Waivers and Scholarships at Roskilde University

Brief description: 

A limited number of Danish state tuition fee waivers and scholarships are offered to highly talented students at graduate level, who come from countries outside of the EU/EEA and need a residence permit to study at Roskilde University.

Tuition fee waiver and a scholarship of DKK 7,800 per month to cover living expenses in Denmark.

The tuition fee waiver and scholarship has a maximum length of 22 months for programmes that start in September.

Eligibility:

In order to be eligible to apply for a tuition fee waiver and scholarship, you must be a non-EU/EEA citizen that is required to pay tuition fees and apply to one of the master’s programmes that offer scholarships.

English language requirement

Applicants for the master’s programme taught in English or in Danish must fulfil the English language requirements. We accept the following documents:

  • IELTS (Academic): 6.5 or
  • TOEFL: internet-based: 83 or
  • Cambridge C1 Advanced, formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or
  • Cambridge C2 Proficiency, formerly known as Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE).
  • Official documentation of a complete high school qualification and/or a complete bachelor’s degree taught in English from the following countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, UK or USA

The IELTS or TOEFL test cannot be more than 2 years old.

Please be advised that Roskilde University does not accept MyBest Scores.

Due to the current public health concerns in connection with coronavirus, Roskilde University accepts the Special Home Edition of the internet-based TOEFL test for the current application round.

You apply by uploading a motivational letter and CV outlining your academic and occupational background to your online application for admission to the master’s programmes before 15 January 2023 for September 2023 entry.

Admission Requirements

You must fulfil the admission requirements described below.

A bachelor’s degree equivalent to a Danish bachelor’s degree

Specific admission requirements related to the relevant master’s programme

Your bachelor’s degree must fulfil specific admission requirements relevant for the specific master’s programme. Specific admission requirement are listed under each master’s programme. Some bachelor’s programmes have been pre-approved as qualifying for admission to RUC master’s programmes taught in English. Pre-approved programmes are listed under each master’s programme and in the admission guide.

The Admissions Office will assess if the academic content of your educational background gives you the necessary qualifications required for admission to a specific master’s programme. This is based on an individual, academic assessment.

You will be assessed based on:

  • A degree equivalent to a Danish bachelor’s degree
  • Study elements equivalent to Danish bachelor’s level taken before completing your bachelor’s degree – e.g. additional courses where you obtain ECTS/credits taken concurrently with your bachelor’s degree or study elements passed at another bachelor’s degree that you have not completed. However, we will only include a maximum of 30 ECTS from these studies.

You will not be assessed based on:

  • Work experience
  • Motivated application
  • Courses you have taken after completion of your bachelor’s degree
  • Courses equivalent to studies at Danish master’s level

Prerequisite Studies

If you lack essential qualifications that amount to no more than 30 ECTS points in order to fulfil the specific admission requirements, you may be offered admission on the condition that you complete prerequisite studies first.
