The Climate Change Resilient Equitable Healthy Cities in Africa (CLARITY-Africa) project invites applications for fully funded PhD scholarships. This initiative, led by Imperial College London in partnership with the University of Ghana (UG) and the Africa Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Research & Innovation Centre (AIMS RIC), aims to generate innovative research on climate change and its impact on vulnerable communities in Accra, Tamale, Kigali, and Musanze.
The project seeks outstanding PhD candidates to contribute to research on environmental risks, focusing on heat, flooding, and drought in urban environments. Successful applicants will receive full funding, including tuition, research support, a stipend, travel expenses, and other costs for the duration of the program.
Eligibility Criteria

Open to applicants from any African country (AIMS RIC) and Ghanaian nationals (UG).

Must have a Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., climate science, demography, economics, geography, environmental science, public health, environmental health, or mathematical/physical sciences).

Strong research potential with academic achievements and experience in relevant fields.

Familiarity with analytical and statistical methods is an advantage.

Willingness to conduct research in alignment with CLARITY-Africa’s focus areas.
Program Structure

University of Ghana (4-year PhD): Includes one year of coursework, experiential learning, and institutional attachments.

AIMS RIC (3-year PhD): Research-focused program with supervision from CLARITY-Africa faculty.
