Career Opportunities at Danish Missions in the U.S. | Embassy & Consulate Positions Available

Denmark’s diplomatic missions in the U.S. offer dynamic and professionally engaging work environments. Currently, two positions are open for applications: a Part-time Marketing & Communication Advisor at the Consulate General of Denmark in Houston and a Foreign and Development Policy Advisor at the Embassy of Denmark in Washington, D.C.

Location: Consulate General of Denmark, Houston, Texas

Employment Type: Part-time (20 hours per week, with potential for full-time by the end of 2025)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Work experience in communication or marketing
  • Experience in producing high-quality communication materials (videos, graphics, articles, etc.)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken); Danish is advantageous but not required
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communication strategies promoting Denmark’s trade and energy initiatives in North America
  • Manage and update the Consulate’s website
  • Plan, produce, and evaluate social media campaigns (especially on LinkedIn)
  • Organize events such as workshops, receptions, and delegations
  • Align visual identity in external communications
  • Provide administrative support as needed

Eligibility Criteria

  • University degree in political science, development studies, economics, law, or related fields
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and academic skills
  • Interest in U.S. foreign and development policy
  • Proficiency in English; Danish is preferred but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of U.S. politics and business culture is an advantage

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on U.S. foreign and development policies
  • Engage with the U.S. Administration and Congress based on Danish priorities
  • Organize events and facilitate visits from Danish government officials
  • Provide policy analysis and recommendations
  • Adapt to evolving responsibilities based on political developments

Employment Conditions

  • Local contract with conditions based on the Embassy’s Staff Rules
  • 37-hour workweek (no upper working hour limit, with additional allowances)
  • 25 days of paid vacation per year
  • Salary: USD 5,456 gross per month (for taxable employees) or USD 4,527 net per month (for tax-exempt employees)
  • Additional 12% allowance for no upper working hour limit
  • Health insurance with partial premium coverage
