The Harold Moody PGR Studentships 2025/26 offer a prestigious opportunity for Black British students to pursue PhD studies in a variety of academic fields at King’s College London. The King’s Doctoral College at King’s College London is offering nine Harold Moody PGR Studentships for the 2025/26 academic year. These studentships are aimed at supporting Black British students who are pursuing a PhD in the following fields:

  • Education Management and Policy

  • Geography and the Environment

  • History and Classics

  • Intercalated Programs

  • International Affairs and Development

This scheme provides full financial support, covering tuition fees, stipends, and research costs, in addition to a comprehensive skills development program.


Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Harold Moody PGR Studentships, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Nationality/Residency: Must be a UK permanent resident eligible for home fee status.

  • Ethnicity: Applicants must identify as one of the following:

    • Black British

    • Black or Black British African

    • Black or Black British Caribbean

    • Black or Black British other

    • Mixed Black

  • Academic Requirements: Applicants must be applying for a PhD starting in the 2025/26 academic year at King’s College London within the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Social Science & Public Policy, or King’s Business School.

  • Exclusions:

    • Students who have already started their doctoral degree at King’s College London are not eligible.

    • Distance learning, MD(Res), professional doctorate degrees, and joint PhD programs are not eligible.

Program Details

This studentship covers all tuition fees and provides a stipend, as well as research costs for your PhD program. Additionally, it includes access to a comprehensive skills development program to enhance your academic and professional development.


How to Apply

  1. Find a Supervisor:

    • Contact a potential supervisor at King’s College London whose research aligns with your proposed PhD topic.

    • Include the name of your proposed supervisor in your admissions application.

  2. Submit an Admissions Application:

    • Complete the online admissions application via King’s Apply by the deadline of 21 April 2025 (23:59 UK time).

    • Ensure you select a PhD program within the eligible faculties: Arts & Humanities, Social Science & Public Policy, or King’s Business School.

    • In the ‘Funding’ section of the application, enter the funding code 2526-THM to apply for the Harold Moody Studentship.

  3. Submit Required Documentation:

    • Ensure all necessary supporting documents (such as transcripts, references, research proposal, and educational qualifications) are submitted by the deadline of 5 May 2025 (23:59 UK time).
