This transformative initiative empowers emerging leaders from government, civil society, and the private sector who are committed to advancing the common good and creating lasting, positive change in their communities and beyond.

About the Leaders Program

Launched in Africa in 2018 and later expanded to the Asia-Pacific (2019), Europe (2020), and the United States (2023), the Obama Foundation Leaders Program brings together a diverse regional network of changemakers aged 24 to 45. These leaders are shaping societies where everyone belongs, participates, and thrives.

Inspired by President Obama’s leadership approach, the program is designed to:

  • Build a values-based foundation for sustained leadership.

  • Strengthen relationships that foster inclusive, lasting change.

  • Equip participants to address complex, systemic challenges in their regions.

Program Experience

Participants engage in a dynamic, interactive learning journey that includes:

  • Group Sessions: Live virtual engagements exploring leadership frameworks, real-world challenges, and expert insights.

  • Small Group Discussions: Peer-based sessions to share experiences, exchange ideas, and collaborate on solutions.

  • Individualized Leadership Coaching: Personalized sessions to clarify goals, strengthen leadership practice, and drive personal and professional growth.

Upon completion, participants join the Obama Leadership Network—a global alumni community of over 1,500 active changemakers—to continue learning, collaborating, and creating impact across the world.
