Are you a young changemaker from the Global South working to create sustainable transformation in your community? The NewNow, a One Young World programme supported by Virgin Unite, is inviting applications for its 2026 cohort of NewNow Leaders.

This initiative brings together exceptional young leaders who are redefining change through systems-thinking and collective action. It aims to support, connect, and amplify the voices of those driving meaningful, long-term solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

About The NewNow

The NewNow is a global collective of emerging leaders with proven track records of delivering real and lasting impact. These individuals are committed to building unstoppable momentum toward a fair and sustainable future.

With over half of the world’s population under the age of 30, young people possess the potential to shape transformative change. The NewNow harnesses this potential by providing mentorship, shared learning, and a supportive community for young leaders determined to drive systems change at scale.

Mission and Approach

The NewNow exists to challenge the status quo and accelerate systems-level transformation. The programme:

  • Amplifies the voices of young leaders advancing global transformation.

  • Encourages collective action and strategic collaboration to address complex challenges.

  • Fosters systems-thinking by sharing insights, tools, and approaches for sustainable impact.

  • Equips leaders to address interconnected global issues through intersectional and innovative strategies.

By engaging with experienced mentors and peers, NewNow participants gain the knowledge and perspective needed to lead change at every level of society.

Why Systems-Thinking Matters

The world’s most significant challenges—ranging from inequality to climate change—are deeply interconnected. Addressing these issues requires understanding how systems operate and how change can occur within them.

Systems-thinking is the ability to see the bigger picture, recognizing that every policy, behavior, or business practice is part of a broader ecosystem. For example, improving youth mental health also involves addressing related factors such as education, nutrition, and employment.

Long-term, sustainable change can only happen when leaders adopt systems-thinking approaches and collaborate across sectors—bringing together community leaders, educators, policymakers, innovators, and businesses to design integrated solutions.
