Exciting Graduate Assistantships at The Carter Center

The Carter Center, based in Atlanta, Georgia, invites graduate and professional students to apply for its prestigious Graduate Assistantship Program. With offices now fully reopened, the Center has resumed in-person programming, offering a limited number of funded opportunities for students enrolled in graduate or professional schools such as law, public health, or international affairs.

About the Program

Graduate Assistantships at The Carter Center provide participants with the chance to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in fields aligned with the Center’s Peace and Health programs. Assistants commit to working 10 to 20 hours per week for a duration of nine to twelve months, starting in August. All positions are based on The Carter Center’s main campus, a 37-acre park-like setting just two miles from downtown Atlanta. Participants receive a competitive hourly compensation of $18.50.

Eligibility and Qualifications

Ideal candidates are those who demonstrate strong academic performance and have experience or interest relevant to The Carter Center’s mission. To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a graduate or doctoral-level program.

  • Remain enrolled in their program for the duration of the assistantship.
  • Be available to work 20 hours per week during business hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Be able to commit to a 9–12 month term beginning in August.

There are no age or citizenship restrictions. However, non-U.S. citizens are encouraged to confirm their eligibility to work in the U.S. by contacting the Center directly.

  1. Review eligibility criteria and qualifications.
  2. Explore available program areas within the Health and Peace initiatives.
