About the Role

The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Global Investors for Sustainable Development (GISD) Alliance and other initiatives aimed at bridging the investment gap for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The role involves data collection, research, policy formulation, and intergovernmental engagement to support financing for sustainable development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct economic research, collect and analyze sector-specific data, and contribute to the preparation of reports and analytical studies.
  • Maintain and manage databases related to financing for development initiatives.
  • Support the work of the GISD Alliance by preparing background documents, analytical briefs, and organizing meetings and consultations.
  • Engage with external experts, policymakers, and the private sector to drive sustainable investment initiatives.
  • Assist in organizing and servicing intergovernmental meetings such as the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4).
  • Contribute to reports, briefing notes, and policy recommendations for intergovernmental bodies.
  • Support administrative and logistical activities related to the Branch’s work programme.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A first-level university degree in economics or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in economic research, policy formulation, and development program implementation. Candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professionals Programme (YPP) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P) do not require additional experience.
  • Languages: Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French or another UN language is an asset.
  • Preferred Experience: Familiarity with the Addis Ababa Action Agenda and the UN intergovernmental process in financing for development is desirable.
