GCIC (Ghana Climate Innovation Centre) is dedicated to the success of entrepreneurs, providing comprehensive business and leadership training programs, tailored portfolio management, support services, and financial grants. Additionally, they offer access to global industry and financial experts across five key sectors:
- Climate-Smart Agriculture
- Energy Efficiency
- Solar Power
- Water Management & Purification
- Domestic Waste Management
The application process involves five phases, with qualifying entrepreneurs progressing through each stage until the final cohort is selected and inducted into the program.
Application Process
- Expression of Interest They assess the alignment between entrepreneurs’ ventures and GCIC’s areas of focus.
- Detailed Application Entrepreneurs submit a form that evaluates business viability, potential impact, and team capabilities.
- Forum Open discussions with GCIC’s team are held to establish expectations and align objectives.
- Presentation Entrepreneurs showcase their business readiness through live presentations to a panel.
- Due Diligence GCIC conducts visits to validate the information provided during the application process.
Minimum Requirements for Applicants
To be eligible, entrepreneurs must meet the following criteria:
- Be legally registered and operational in Ghana for at least three years.
- Employ a minimum of three full-time staff members.
- Generate a gross annual revenue of at least GHC 500,000 in the last two fiscal years.
- Operate in one of GCIC’s five key sectors (listed above).
Businesses outside these sectors may apply if they show an interest in greening their operations.
A Special Focus on Women-Led Initiatives
They strongly encourage applications from women-led businesses and organizations focused on water management and purification, particularly those providing solutions to the water pollution caused by galamsey in Ghana.
