The ERA Fellowships – Green Hydrogen program offers funding opportunities for German and international Master’s students, PhD students, and PostDocs working in the field of Green Hydrogen. The program supports research and study opportunities in Germany and internationally.

Application Deadlines
- Master’s students can apply by March 31, 2025.
- PhD students and PostDocs can apply at any time. The fellowship can start at the beginning of any month (except July 15). Applications must be submitted at least four months before the planned start date.

Eligibility and Research Focus
Open to students and researchers from a wide range of scientific disciplines, provided their research is clearly related to Green Hydrogen:
- Master student, enrolled at a university in the participating countries
- PhD student, enrolled at a university in the participating countries
- PostDoc working in the field of Green Hydrogen (GH2) from universities or non-university research institutes in the participating countries

Application Process
- Applicants must register on the DAAD portal (www.meinDAAD.de) and submit their applications online. Applications sent via email or postal mail will not be accepted.
- Documents required vary by applicant category and are listed in the respective checklists available in the application links.
- All documents must be submitted in English. For PhD students and PostDocs, an official language test is not required; instead, the host institution must confirm sufficient language proficiency.

Selection Criteria
Applications are reviewed by an independent selection committee consisting of international university professors and researchers in the Green Hydrogen field. Selection is based on academic qualifications, research project quality, and the applicant’s potential.
Additional Information on Fellowships
- Internships and Study Placements: Applicants do not need to have a confirmed study place at the time of application, but must indicate their preferred university or program. Admission letters can be submitted later.
- Previous DAAD Scholarship Holders: Those who have previously received DAAD funding may still be eligible but should check specific conditions.
- Working Groups: Fellows join specialized working groups based on the European Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). These include Production, Transport/Infrastructure, Market Stimulation, and Cross-Cutting Issues. Fellows receive opportunities for networking, additional financial support for conferences, and collaborative workshops.
- Funding for Internships: Master’s and PhD students can receive funding for internships in Germany, provided they remain enrolled at their home university.
