Key Responsibilities

The Communication and Information Management Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the Office’s promotional and advocacy efforts. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering high-quality communication and information products using a range of multimedia platforms.
  • Assisting in drafting national and regional communication plans aligned with ILO strategies.
  • Identifying key messages and target audiences while providing technical advice on communication approaches.
  • Conducting media reviews, research, and analysis to draft briefs and reports.
  • Writing, editing, and translating audience-specific communication materials such as press releases, feature stories, and fact sheets.
  • Overseeing website and database management to ensure content consistency and compliance.
  • Organizing press conferences, media interviews, and public information events.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of communication strategies through surveys and social media analytics.
  • Providing guidance on internal communications and representing the Office in interagency forums.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • A university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a university degree based on specific criteria outlined by the ILO.

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of professional work experience in communication or information management.

Languages:

  • Excellent command of English. A working knowledge of Spanish or French is an asset.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of communication and information management principles.
  • Experience in developing multimedia communication products.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and national media practices.
  • Research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a multicultural environment.
