University College London (UCL) is inviting applications for the position of Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow in Climate Policy and Health, based within The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (BSEER). The role is situated in the UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering (IEDE), which is internationally recognised for its interdisciplinary research on the built environment and its impact on health, wellbeing, energy use, and climate change.
The successful candidate will play a central role in the Policy and Implementation for Climate & Health Equity (PAICE) project. This includes a policy exchange placement with the Greater London Authority (GLA) Public Health Unit, where they will contribute to reframing policy through the lens of health equity, while integrating adaptation and mitigation strategies.
The primary responsibility of the postholder will be to enhance the inclusion of health considerations in evidence-informed climate policy design for Greater London.

Candidate Profile
UCL is seeking an experienced and analytically minded individual with:
- A PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
- A solid background in public health, particularly relating to equity, health, and social value.
- Skills in evidence synthesis, health inequalities, and preferably implementation science.
- A demonstrable interest in the interface of climate policy, health, and adaptation.
Prior policy experience is considered beneficial, although a strong interdisciplinary focus and a commitment to impactful research are essential.
Project and Collaboration
The appointed researcher will work closely with colleagues at UCL and the GLA, bridging academic expertise and policy development. The role offers a rare opportunity to influence public policy at a metropolitan scale and to contribute to healthier, more equitable urban futures.
This position is funded until 31 October 2026, with potential for further extension subject to funding. It is not available for secondment.
